As long as none of the food is liquid (yoghurt, Soup, creme fraiche etc.) you are perfectly allowed to bring food in your carry-on.
In case the food is liquid, it will be categorized under the normal rules for liquids. For instance firm cheese is allowed, whereas cream cheese depends on the size of the container according to the liquid rules. You can read more about the liquid rules via this link.

However be aware, that some products can be illegal to bring into another country. If you have any doubts on that matter you should always contact the embassy of the land in question, or alternatively contact the relevant airport directly.
